What is the most used label of this chord?:

I've been informed that it could be written as Cmaj9, as an abbreviation of Cmaj7 and 9.

In a job I have, I've seen it labelled as Cmaj7add9, which doesn't seem quite right as the 'add9' understands a missing 7.

Any ideas?

I call it a Cmaj9. Root, a major third, a perfect fifth, a major seventh and a major ninth, Cmaj9.

My personal preference goes to Peter's symbol, triangle with a 9. Clear, concise and widely used.

It's optional.

∆9 (my preference)
Major9, major9
Maj9, maj9
M9

Definitely not maj7(add 9). That's unnecessarily long, and in the above examples 9 implies the 7.

Cheers,
