I don't use chord symbols all that much, but if I did, you would be my new best friend.

This looks useful, thanks. In doc options / font, it shows Finale Jazz Text Lowercase rather than Jazzcord as the suffix font ?
When I change suffix font to jazzcord it goes weird. No doubt there is an obvious explanation for this.

We need more info from you:
1) Where are you changing the suffix font?
- in the Document Options?
- in Chord menu > Change Chord Suffix Fonts…?
2) What do you mean by your words “… it goes weird …”? Please be more specific.
- Does the chord entry “go weird”?
- Does the chord metatools “go weird”?
- Does the chord suffix display “go weird”?

I assume what you're talking about is this: and yes, it's weird... and if you go edit the suffix, it's not any different What I did is to follow the instruction to start a document that this guy explains in this video:douglas-mx wrote: ↑Tue Jun 21, 2022 6:31 amThis looks useful, thanks. so I have this app, PopChar that shows all the "glyphs", i think they're called, and all the nice suffixes show under Finale Jazz, and not Finale Jazz Text Lowercase. Personally, I could care less, but still, that must be an explanation for this?... Peter?
AHA!... I see now, you can now actually change font for every single symbol of the suffix...

Thanks,
I'm yet to explore this fully however - I'm still puzzled as to why the suffix font in doc options is not Jazzcord but 'Finale Jazz Text Lowercase plain' and when I attempt to change via doc options then 'change suffix font' in Chord menu I get rows of little boxes with question marks. That's font annotation problems right ?
PopChar still exists !!, I remember that from Mac OS9!

if you watch the video I quoted above, you'll see that now each character of the suffix can be a different font. The chord letters are always Finale Jazz Text Lowercase, so I guess that's why is listed as such in Document Options, but then it can be changed to something else with each character. So if my document shows correctly when you load it, just leave it alone...
My initial question was for alternative key strokes to call different extensions, other than chordRoot:xx (where xx is the extension number). For example i just learned that the halfdiminished keystroke is % and not ø (alt+o) as it would make sense to me.

Please explain.
We can not read minds.
Are you saying that {only the Jazzcord font should ever be used for chord symbols}?
By The Way:
In your first post you wrote that you are using Finale v27.
But in your Forum User Profile (shown to the right of your posts) it still says that you are using Finale v26.
Perhaps you should update your Forum User Profile.

Are you trying to create new chord suffixes - or are you trying to change already existing suffixes?

Great Alex, the video is quite a revelation ! SMuFL Jazz font with lowercase, and suffix's with parenthesis can be typed in ! 27.2 is a significant update for those of who use the Jazz font. Not quite sure how I missed that .... many thanks.
