Hi.......
Just wondering if anyone knows a way to create a "sub. p" dynamics marking using the Jazz font. There doesn't seem to be the "subito" marking in the Jazz font where all the dynamics markings are located. I know I can make my own as an expression, but wanted to see if anyone has a better solution.
Thanks.

Since you are asking for “a better solution” than creating the {sub. p} as an expression, I suppose that you are not quite satisfied with the expression - right?Rick_in_MN wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 10:24 pm… I know I can make my own as an expression, but wanted to see if anyone has a better solution …
See the attached Finale document, showing the {sub. p} as an expression.
Why are you not satisfied with the expression?
What is the problem?

Just a suggestion -
It might be better to use "p sub." rather than "sub. p". That way the "p" can be aligned under the note to which it refers and the "sub." will not interfere with other notation or bar lines. "p" should be the focus and "sub." the further directive.

The default dynamics with the Jazz font has subito p. It is not a font character but rather a blend of the Music Font (jazz) and the Text Font. If you want the handwritten look, change the Text Font to Jazz Text in the Category designer. If you want "sub." instead of "subito," edit the expression. Or make a new one. Nothing wrong with that.

Thanks, motet. I didn't have either the subito P or sub. P options in the Dynamics menu on the docs I've been working with (templates created long ago), but there they were when I created a new, blank doc. It was good to find them.
