Hiding cues in the score

I'm making cues with the TG Tools plug-in, which adds real whole rests in layer 1 above the cue. I want to hide these cues in the score. If I apply the "blank notation, layer 4" staff style, you'll see that in theexample below, the whole rest in the middle remains, while the others have moved back down. The reason is that I nudged the middle one up from its default position, which clears the "float rest" flag. If I change the staff style to not show anything from layer 1, then I get a completely blank measure, which I don't want.

What do others do in this situation? Is there a way to nudge a real whole rest up or down without clearing that "float rest" flag? Make the rest an expression? Throw up my hands and make a separate file for the score?

I am not sure I quite understand the question. If you are going to hide the cue notes anyway, why are you bothering to nudge the rest up or wherever to? On the other hand, if you are doing it, it's easy to put the rest back to its normal position. I've used JW Change > Rests > Placemet Style > Floating (+ Clear Deplacement). Seems easiest and you can do a whole region that way.

I run into this also and I don't think there is a fix.

Indeed this problem calls for a workaround.

Making the rest as an expression is one way to do it.
Use the Horizontal Alignment option {Center Over/Under Music}, not {Center Between Barlines}.

Another way:
Use the Smart Shape Tool.
Create a Custom Line, and add the rest as Center Text.
Give the line zero thickness.
Draw the line across the measure.
The rest will alway be centered in the measure, no matter how you change the layout (and make the measure wider/narrower).

Because I don't want the rest colliding with the cue in the part.

I was able to solve the problem by creating a staff style with the notation shown below. I also had to disable the showing of clefs in the staff style for the case where the cue changes clefs:

The only gotcha seems to be if there's a fermata on the layer-1 whole rest:

In this case you want the fermata in the score to look different than it does in the part, I'll have to create a fermata expression and show it in the score only.
