When I use the glissando tool I get this ("Rit.", between the last 2 notes) If I right click and choose Edit, nothing happens.

Option-click on the Glissando tool. A window will open in which you can choose what your glissando line should look like. Not sure how a ritardando line got in there, but simply choose (or create) a different one.
Running Finale 25.4.1.163 in OS X 10.11.6
