Hey!

I have started to work from an old finale file by first erasing every bar except the first one. That way I have all my settings intact and can just start feeding the softare with new music. However, I recently noticed that some of the information from the old score still is present, even though I did erase each and every bar (including all the info that those bars contained) except the first one.

How is it possible that some info still shows up after an erase? And how do I go about deleting it? I include two screenshots to give an example. The text in this case is only visible inside the Speedy window.

I am working on a score for full orchestra and wouldn't like to see tempo changes etc in the finished pdf file that shouldn't be there at all!

Thanks for any hints!

I suggest that you attach a (small) Finale .musx sample document here, for the gurus to examine.

Without seeing an actual Finale document we can only guess.

I don't know what the maximum size could be to attach a musx file, but mine is 472 k and it's too big...

However small I make the musx file, it is still too large...

I should also correct my poor English by saying I have completely deleted all bars, not just erased the content in them.

I have also noticed that if I add new empty bars to my project some information from the old file still shows up (visibly inside the Speedy window only). The only way to make sure the new bars are empty is by highlighting them and choose Clear All Items.

At this point, I would start a new document. Reusing old templates will, over time, often cause problems. Yes, I know you don’t want to do that, but you’ve probably already spent more time than starting fresh would have taken.

I agree. However, this template is only a couple of months old. But come to think of it, I have updated to a Mac M1 with OS 13 since I created the original. I will start all over with a new Finale file, but I still want to know why information shows up in a hidden way even though it should be deleted. It's weird. Should someone have a thought about this I am all ears. But until then I rest my case.
Thanks!

A couple of months old should be OK.

If you select all from the Expression tool and then press Delete, that should get rid of them, hidden or not. Select All may only select what's on the screen, so either zoom way out or page through and do it repeatedly.

I have seen Smart Shapes like hairpins stick around after the music is deleted. Same trick to get rid of those.
