I edit Aria Player to, for example, Finale Default / Orchestral Percussion. On the Aria keyboard, I hear all those sounds. But when I enter notes, some (many) of those sounds are gone--I don't hear them inputting or playing back.
Also, with SoftSync, all I get is piano sound when I select percussion.
Finale 2012.

Sounds like a percussion map issue.

Triple thank you! Yep, I got into Device Set Up and mapped to the sounds I wanted.
