Bell Question

I'm engraving from a handwritten score and have come across a notation for what seems to be a kind of orchestral bell but the handwriting is unclear and I've done Google searches on what it seems like it might be with no results. Just wondering if anyone here recognizes what it might be. Looks like it says "Enulie Bells" or "Enulic Bells", but I've never heard of that and neither has the internet, so I figure it must be something else.

Maybe the Talking Drum could tell you.

I think it says "Erotic Bells". I googled that and wish I hadn't.

Ha! No, the talking drum I got. Another instrument I'd never heard of before-- but it's real:

I had't thought of that possibility but probably not. The piece is a cue from INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE. Erotic bells are not exactly something I'd expect to find in a John Williams score.

I guess it's going to remain a mystery. I'll just notate it as "Bells" and leave it at that.

"Exotic Bells" makes sense but doesn't seem that close.

Perhaps it is a bell tree or mark tree, windchimes or bar chimes?

I think that is what it says.

If that staff label does indeed say "exotic bells", it's likely that it does not refer to a specific instrument, rather to a specific effect. At the recording session, the percussionist might be asked to demonstrate some "exotic bell effects" with the instruments at hand, and a selection would then be made.

Does a recording exist of this particular passage? That would hold a possible clue.
