Does anyone know how to use Finale (maybe with a 3rd party plugin?) to do this?:

1. Select all the notes in a Finale document below C1?
a. Or - at least select all the notes in a staff that are below C1…

2 And then change all the selected notes to be “hidden”?

That way, my keyswitches can play in Finale without being seen in the printed score.

----------
I almost always import a MIDI file, rather than enter notes one at a time in Finale. If I had to enter KS by hand, I would just hide them when I entered them. Picking the keyswitches a measure at a time and hiding them is not a solution for me. Especially in an orchestral score with ~28 staves! Ugh! THis is the kind of repetitive, rule-based work that computers are good at…

You might take a look at JW Change, and see if that will do what you need.

Thanks for the FAST response! JW change is soooo close to what I need.

BUT it does not allow you to specify the PITCH of the note to be hidden. (Unless I missed something?)

You can select all notes based on a rule, rather than one by one, which is what I need. But the plugin specifies what note will be selected by where the note is in relation to the bar, or another note.

Dozens of ways to specify a note - but not by its...pitch!

That's one of my favorite things about a note - its pitch!

Maybe JW has another tool for that...?

Instead of adding notes for keyswitches, you can create non-printing expressions that send keyswitches, controllers, etc.

You are right, and Finale 27 has lots of capability for this. But as I mentioned in my original post, I do not enter notes in Finale - I import Midi files from Digital Performer.

I have been thinking about the suggestion to use JW’s plugin - in pieces that do not use 64ty notes, I could change all my KS in DP to 64th notes. Then JW’s plugin would allow a global search of the whole Finale document for all 64th notes and would change them - all at once - into hidden notes.

Meanwhile, I will continue searching for a way to do it all in Finale - search for all notes lower than C1 and hide them all at once.

Have you ever needed to select all the low pitches in a track and hide them?
