I have a piece I'm working on that is 80 measures long. I've got: Drums, percussion, 2 guitars, and bass guitar. When I go to add an electric guitar (or any other instrument), the score mysteriously shortens down to 25 measures (sometimes only 18!). It plays through to the end, but the score doesn't "scroll". It just stops. What am I doing wrong?

Try updating the layout: Utilities Menu > Update Layout. In Preferences > Edit, the option for Auto Update Layout should always be checked.

You could also rebuild the preferences as outlined here:

Finale is notoriously poor at redrawing the screen. On Windows Ctrl-D and Ctrl-U are your friends. I am sure Mac has a similar keyboard command.

With Automatic Update Layout set, you should never need Ctrl-U. I do have to type Ctrl-D fairly often.

Same shortcuts for Macs, but CMD-D AND CMD-U.
