The Apple "Magic" Trackpad 2. I have no issues with precision -- though I don't do enter notes with the pointer, as some do. But I do graphic work in Affinity Designer and other apps, and I can make tiny adjustments.
I remember the first time I tried to draw freehand with the mouse. It was terrible! As with the keyboard (either kind), practice makes perfect.

One issue I have had with mouse wheel is that it can be difficult to scroll one bar a time when you are in scroll view. You can push the button down at the bottom of your active window, but I find that to not be optimal (annoying that there that make music hasn't made a shortcut for that as default). If you already have Keyboard Maestro, I've made a macro I can give you that assign a keyboard shortcut for this.

Thank you for your offer, magnefl, but I never use scroll view; only page view.
