The title page of my score appears correct on the screen, but the printed page, hard copy and PDF, is corrupted such that the music staves are crowded towards the top of the page covering composer/arranger credits. How do I fix this?

It sounds like you're using Finale to create the PDF. Many users have found it better to "print" to one of the third-party PDF creators (Cute PDF, etc.) You might also try using the graphics tool to export the file as a PDF.

ok, thank you for the pdf suggestion, but I can't get the page to print correctly at all. It appears correct on the computer screen, but is out of alignment when it is printed. Specifically, the position of the music staves is higher than it should be, and it covers the writer/arranger credits. This occurred after I experimented with fitting the music to the page. Perhaps I inadvertently changed a setting?

Do you have the same page size in both the print dialogue, and the page setup?

How are you creating the PDF now?

This could happen if you are printing something else, than what you are viewing on the computer screen.

Example:
Viewing the Score on the computer screen, but printing the linked Part.

To view the linked Part:
Document menu > Edit Part > …

I would do as suggested above and get one of the third party PDF makers. Cute PDF is just one, I used doPDF. However when you go to print you need to make sure the settings in both the PDF utility and Finale are the same. You also try resetting your Finale preferences. Plus a computer reboot.

If you print to a printer does it come out good?

Thank you for your replies, I have been away.
The music is a piano score, and the staves are perfectly spaced when I look at it on my computer screen. When I print it, either from Finale or as a PDF, the music staves are shifted to the top of the page, and are thus too close to the title, and covering the writer/arranger credits.

If you can attach your file here, someone can figure it out. My guess is what Peter said: perhaps you're looking at the score but printing the part, or vice-versa.

Thank you to anyone who can help. See attachment below, and let me know if you have any questions. It is concerning only the first page of the score. As you can see, the page appears normal, but is corrupted when printed.

Janie Becker,

I think that my suspicion was correct:
You are viewing the Score on the computer screen, but you are printing the linked part.

Take a look at the two attached PDF files.

As you can see, the Score PDF file looks fine.

But the linked part PDF file is corrupted such that the music staves are crowded towards the top of the page covering composer/arranger credits.

On the Utilities menu, try Update Layout. If Automatic Update Layout in Preferences is off, turn it on and leave it on.
