I have a full score for an orchestral work that I created in Finale.
How would I create the individual parts from the score, e.g. oboes,
violins, etc? It has been a while since I've done this, so I've forgotten.
I want to be able to do this in the event that an orchestra librarian
requests them. Thanks.

I'm not understanding something here. After I clicked
"Generate parts" I get the attached picture.
How do I generate, say, the flute part?

Sorry to say RTFM, but search for Parts in the manual. There's a whole section; you don't know the basics, and it's not practical for someone here to explain it all.

I tried to follow your suggestion a few times. (it's the
same direction given in the manual.) Each time it does nothing.
I click (for example) the flute part ("linked parts") and then
when I click "OK" it just shows the full score, not the part I selected.
What gives?

In the dialog box Manage Parts, first click the button {Generate Parts}, then click OK.

Do not do anything else in the dialog box Manage Parts (like e. g. clicking on the Flute part).

You will return to the score which looks exactly the same as before.
But now all parts have been generated.

Hi. This is not a 'reply' but is a request for help under this topic. I've received wonderful help on an earlier difficulty I had with scores and parts, for which I'm extremely grateful to all who helped, and I now have a good understanding of what to do.

However, I've just encountered a situation where, after generating parts from a score, the parts are missing a significant chunk of music. It's a vocal arrangement with band accompaniment. In the Voice part all the rehearsal marks are shown, except for the missing 30 bars. In the instrument parts there are no rehearsal marks until the last two at the end of the piece after the missing 30 bars.

The missing bars constitute the instrumental solos in the middle of the tune. I don't know if that's got anything to do with it. I can't imagine why. Thank you.

Can you attach your file here? It's not normal behavior, so it's anybody's guess.

Can you see the missing 30 measures in Scroll View?

If you can see them in Scroll View, then I suspect that the missing measures are “hiding” inside a multimeasure rest.
(Multimeasure Rests are “Page View Only”)

As a test, create multimeasure rests in the part.
Creating multimeasure rests will make the missing 30 measures re-appear - if I am right.

I am so sorry but I've made a very silly boo-boo. I've just realised I have two copies of the score - one with solos and one without. I've been looking at the parts for the one without solos.

Please put it down to age and senility. Again, my deep apologies for wasting everyone's time. :-(
