There is too much space between my systems; I'm trying to drag
the system handles but they won't move. What am I doing wrong?
See attached. Thanks.

There's no such thing as a "system handle." Drag them from the middle.
You can't make them closer because your system margins are big. You can fix that, or uncheck Avoid Margin Collision on the Page Layout meny.

Oh, you're right--that works with the System tool. It's really the staff handle, but if you drag the top staff it moves all staves in the system. In any case, the system margins are the issue. Unchecking Avoid Margin Collision will only help in the Page Layout tool. To move systems there, put the mouse in the middle of the system and click-drag.

Let me clarify. I want to drag a single system, for example, the 2nd system
up, beginning at meas.5. How do I do it? I don't need to drag all systems globally.

Watch Jason Loffredo's video on the subject of page formatting:

I think you could benefit from all his videos:

Maybe pick one a day and watch it.

I just copy/pasted the entire thing to a blank autoload (see attached)
and I can now drag the system handles (the tiny boxes beneath the measure numbers) so that the systems are spaced properly.

What you pasted into has smaller system margins. You should still watch the video, since somehow you unwittingly changed the margins in the original document. It's essential to understand how it all works and what the various settings are for. Jason's videos are excellent.

That may be so, but now I am satisfied with the visuals.
