When using the Chord Tool - out of the box Finale recognizes the lower case "b" to be a flat ♭

Would it be possible to program other keys? For example, let's say I've added Δ7 to my chord suffix selection table, would it be possible to type A^7 and get AΔ7 ?

I do know about using <chord letter>:0 and <chord letter>:<number in chord suffix table> and this is very handy.

Unfortunately no, sorry.

A. In the Chord menu you can select the option
Substitute Symbols

But the option Substitute Symbols can not be customized.

Substitute Symbols only does two things:

1) Replace ‘o’ (= lowercase letter o) with the diminished symbol °.

2) Replace ‘%’ (= per cent) with the half diminished symbol ø.

B. As you have found out, the “colon method” is very handy when typing chord symbols into the score.

C. You can also program metatools in the Chord Tool.

* Are you familiar with metatools ?
