In opening in v.27 a score created in F2014, and worked on previously in v.25, it appears that all of my manually entered accidentals changes have been lost. Is this to be expected? Is there a way to prevent this in the future? Thanks in advance for any info on this. (Macbook Pro, Monterey)

Are you talking about manually entered courtesy accidentals? Attach a small sample file that contains a few disappearing accidentals along with a screenshot so we can see what it's supposed to look like. Maybe someone can run down the problem for you.

I suspect this is the "stacking" feature--I recall complaints of it breaking old files when it came out. Isn't there some sort of compatibility checkbox when importing?

But didn't that feature break old files?

I don't know. Can you point to some discussion of this?

Was there a font change and auto update layout turned on? I would suspect so.

You mean automatic music spacing. Automatic update layout should always be left on.

Are the cautionary accidentals only affected by this loss? If not, it couldn't be a font issue.

If we could see a "before" file, somebody could probably get to the bottom of it.

I'm guessing the original problem has been solved, probably by a computer reboot.

On the old forum was a pinned topic of what to try first, rebooting being at the top. I wonder if such would be a good idea here.

Thanks, all, for the offers of help and comments. I have discovered the problem, and it was user-error generated. I’ve got some unexpected work to do, but this time it’s not Finale’s fault.
