Hello,

I am not sure if this is possible, but I'd like to increase the volume when using the MIDI keyboard with Speedy Entry to enter notes or chords.

Any ideas on what to check?

Thanks

You can't just turn the system volume up when you're entering music?

You could set the "MIDI Thru" setting to a fixed channel and turn up the volume on that channel.

I found Window > Mixer but, that doesn't do anything. I can move the potentiometers to negative infinity and I still hear sound - similarly I can increase the volume setting to the maximum and there is no change to the output. I've always been pretty confused about volume in Finale. It's mostly an issue because while I input notes I tended to crank up the volume on my audio interface to hear the notes - then, I'll forget and play a YouTube video and the volume is super loud causing me to jump out of my seat. So, yeah, it would just be better if Finale wasn't mumbling so much.

For playback I been setting the volume in the Playback Controls window > Base Key Velocity > 100 This works well for playback.

I have been considering bypassing Finale for sound while inputting notes - by using an external synthesizer. I'll just need to spend a little time to figure out how to set that up.

Okay, I noticed that the Mixer volume controls now work when I have MIDI/Audio > Play Finale Through Audio Units checked. Although, I can increase the volume using the mixer fader - the improvement, even with the potentiometer at max, is only like a +3dB improvement.

Previously I had Play Finale Through MIDI checked - which seems to bypass the Mixer.

This helps a lot

MIDI/Audio > Audio Units Banks & Effects... > Set Volume at top right to 200

Oh Dear, ARIA Player totally stopped working - no sound. All I did was switch "instrument" to "SmartMusicSoftSynth" - but, when I switched back to "ARIA Player" - zero sound with EVERY potentiometer at the maximum. :(

Okay, looks like the sound settings came back upon creating a new document from template. So, then I created a new template with the new volume settings. Oy Vey

Aria Player controls Garritan (VST), not SmartMusic Softsynth.
In the Midi/Audio menu, depending on which option you select :
Play Finale via Midi : plays SmartMusic Softsynth sounds (or an external Midi module or keyboard)
Play Finale via VST : plays Garrritan sounds, controlled by Aria Player (or other sound libraries with their own player).
