Somewhere I once found a Finale 26 dropdown where you can see the measure ranges where a style has been applied. Where is that tool located?

I don't recall seeing that, though it might be there somewhere. Is it possible that you are recalling Repeat > Check Repeats that shows the measure ranges for repeats?

If you're in the Staff tool, you should see a gray line where the staff style is applied. If you don't there's a setting somewhere to turn it on (though I believe it's on by default).

I don't think there's ever been a drop-down menu anywhere indicating this. But if you use the Staff Tool, you will see lines indicating which styles are used where, if in the Staff (drop-down) Menu you have checked Show Staff Styles and Show Staff Style Names. They are not necessarily gray (but maybe that's the default), their color can be chosen in Edit > Preferences > Display colors
