My laptop recently died a miserable death and the new laptop has Ventura as the OS. I keep getting the pop-up with F27 that the audio engine failed to load. I think I have seen that mentioned here before; does anyone know of a way to prevent this minor annoyance?

Just a WAG, but is that something that has to be shown the path once, before it loads automatically?

Lead me to the path, oh Mike.

Check MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > Audio Setup, and make sure that the input and output sources are correct.

Try trashing the user prefs.

Did you reinstall Finale, or just migrate?

Thanks, BuonTempi. I did a fresh install, and I tried all the Audio Setup tricks, including changing the sample rate and buffer size. I have a message in to customer service and I will report what they say.

Finale Customer Service said that the problem might be that when the screen wakes up from sleep it creates the problem with the Audio Engine, so I set the screen to never go to sleep. But still when I close the laptop and reopen it, the problem still happens.

Yes, I get the error if I leave Finale open overnight. I can hold down Return, which presses "OK" on the error message about 35 times, until the errors are cleared. But it's probably best just to relaunch Finale.

BuonTempi is correct that clicking return (sometimes repeatedly) allows you to keep working, but usually without playback, so if you need sound, re-launch is needed.

Finale is aware of this and I hope that some update of Finale or the OS will solve the problem.

I posted this elsewhere but I thought it might help someone to also post it here to my original question.

So the problem is with the iPhone (!) and Continuity Camera, whatever that is. I have not received the error code since applying this solution:

If you do not use Continuity Camera and you are experiencing issues like Error Code 7, you can disable it:
On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > AirPlay & Handoff.
Turn off Continuity Camera.

It's basically using your iPhone as a webcam for your Mac. Here's MM's support page about the problem:

https://makemusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/ ... 2042413207

Ironically, I don't have an option for CC in my Settings, and yet I still get the Audio Engine error.

If Apple haven't already done anything about it, they are unlikely to. (Likewise MM, I suppose.)
