In the attached file I have cue notes as well as cello notes. The cue notes
of course are smaller. I wanted to enlarge the cello noteheads a bit, but when
I applied the resize noteheads tool (plug-in) I see that it enlarged all the noteheads
including the cue notes. Other than doing this note by note, is there a way to
enlarge a group of note heads excluding cue notes?

Before running the plugin, highlight only the measures that have noteheads you want to enlarge. You'll have to do it a number of times, skipping over the cued passages.

I wouldn't enlarge the noteheads - there's no reason to.

One of several reasons why it's good to put cues in their own layer.

And if they are in their own layers, JW Change will make it easy.

Why the change to layer 2 in m. 28?

What is "JW?"

Why the change to layer 2 in m. 28?

JW Change is an extremely useful plug-in, with numerous functionalities. In this particular case : Note Entries -> Resize + Select a Layer. Available here :

P.S. : Cue notes are usually created with the plug-in "Scoring and Arranging -> Add Cue notes". It reduces the notes and places them in Layer 4.

And puts a whole rest, which should be there, in layer 1.
