Purchase of Finale upgrade to 27 from 26

I live in the UK and have always used Alfred Music to purchase my upgrades.

Now when I click on the link it takes me to the main ordering page priced in dollars.

Is there another UK distributor for Finale in the UK please?

I could but I want to know the price in GBP including our local tax (VAT). Purchasing in USD lays me open to credit card conversion charges plus a fluctuating exchange rate. I don’t know why MakeMusic doesn’t have a native UK reseller.

The price is $99, and you'll pay $19.80 in tax (20%), which is £93.62. Call it £95 with some kind of bank fee.

Very few, if any, of the UK music shops seem to sell Finale, and those that do are selling New Purchases, rather than upgrades.

The need to involve a third-party for digital products is minimal: why should someone else take a cut, when MM can take it all?

Given the current stewards of our nation's economy, the price is unlikely to go down...

Certainly the GBP is unlikely to strengthen against the USD any time soon!!

I do a bit of traveling and generally found that credit cards (not debit cards) have a better exchange rate (both directions) than most stores. I think banks mostly exchange large amounts and try to time exchanges in both directions. This is not always the case. Argentina is an exception.

Although my understanding is poor, I'm not convinced that they need to charge VAT, unless they are actually registered for VAT in the UK and sending that money back, which seems like needless admin.

EDIT: Yes, previous invoices have not charged any Tax, so I think I'll query it.

MM's answer: they recently 'took over' UK Sales from Alfred Music UK, which is why Alfred UK's site redirects you to MM.

MM is indeed registered for VAT in the UK, and they are going to add their VAT reg. number to their invoices.

Don't count on it. There was an offer a while back that Canadians couldn't get and we get Finale from MM.

Hmmm. That's a shame. I was told by MM that the reason they couldn't provide the discounts was because each of their resellers had the right to do their own discounts and weren't constrained by MM marketing.
We'll just have to wait and see.
