Upgraded to v27 But it Saves to 2012 musx
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
I upgraded from 2012 to v27. v27 converts just fine. But when I close and save, it saves as a 2012 musx. The file has the 2012 icon, not the v27 icon. And that file will not open in v27. However, if I remove the x from musx it will now open in V27. Help, please.

Are you saying that files created in v27 get saved as 2012? Or old files opened in v27?

Hi, thank you. I have not created a file yet in v27. So, yes, old 2012 files opened in v27 get saved as musx files with the 2012 icon. When I open those I get "invalid file type." I created a first time file in v27. Still saves as musx with Finale 2012 icon and opens only in Finale 2012 as "invalid file type."Bill Stevens wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 12:38 pmAre you saying that files created in v27 get saved as 2012? Also, Finale 2012 is still on this PC.

I assume you've taken the routine first steps -- reboot Finale, and if that doesn't work, reboot computer.
Another long shot might be to Save As instead of Save.
Hopefully a Windows user will have further suggestions for you.

This sounds like Windows didn't assign .musx files (i.e. what happens if you double-click on them) to version 27 when it was installed. There might have been a choice you made when you installed it that caused this. See if you can open files from within Finale rather than double-clicking with Windows Explorer.
Thank you. I ended up uninstalling 2012. Then finally, v27 could be selected as default to play musx.Bill Stevens wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 9:55 pmI assume you've taken the routine first steps -- reboot Finale, and if that doesn't work, reboot computer.

Thank you. Yes, I think that's it. When I tried to find v27 to select as default to play musx, just could not locate it. I ended up uninstalling 2012. Ha, now I'm dealing with NotePerformermotet wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 11:28 pmThis sounds like Windows didn't assign .musx files (i.e. what happens if you double-click on them) to version 27 when it was installed.
