If the old file had expressions which disappeared when opening in a new version, that is indeed a bug (opening an existing file doesn't involve loading libraries--the expressions are stored in the .mus(x) file).

Now on to a host of other problems with v27.

This was not a problem or bug. You just didn't know the solution. Something happened to the ".lib" file in your old Print Music file and 27.3 could not use it. What else hopefully they will be as easy to fix?

Thank you. Well, let's see... I have a new project that uses the standard five staves of string sections. I'm using Note Performer with this. It's only eight bars long. After playing through it about five times, it starts to lag; that is, the sections seem to bleed into one another. I have 32 GB memory, and I just trouble shot it, finding no problems. Does the same when reassigned to Aria.

No it does not and it shouldn't happen with NP3. Again you probably need to post the file.
My advice is to use Garritan for composing and/or arranging and only use NP3 when you are done.

Perhaps, perhaps not. You can not say that definitively without knowing the life of the old Print Music file. Besides, no matter, simply loading the default.lib fixes it instantly.

It depends what you mean by "fix". If there were expressions entered in the music of the original file and now are missing, loading a library will not get them back. They must be re-entered one by one. That's a serious bug in my book.

Oh, I meant they're still in the music. I just have to load library if I want to add more or edit previous. Unfortunately NP4 ignores many items in the library. For example, applying the symbol for a long note doesn't work in NP4. Also, NP4 is playing almost all notes as short pecks. NP4 also ignores swing %. It plays all swing passages as 1930s novelty band staccato dotted eighth /16ths.

Make a new document and copy the old document into it and you should be good to go.

Have you tried this? I think it would be easier than all the back and forth here.

I should have thought of that! Thank you, yes, the libraries would be in the new doc. UPDATE: I copied from Finale 2012. Opened new doc in V27. "Paste" is grayed out.

Then you switched to Finale v27, created a new document, and tried to paste - right?

Unfortunately the Finale versions do not copy (Finale music notation data) to the Windows Clipboard inside your Windows OS.

Instead, each Finale program has its own {music notation Clipboard}.

When you, in Finale 2012, copied the music, you copied to Finale 2012’s {music notation Clipboard}.

When you, in Finale v27, created a new document, and tried to paste, it did not work because v27’s {music notation Clipboard} was empty.


Instead, do not use Finale 2012 at all.
Open the Finale document in v27, and copy.
In this way the music is copied to v27’s {music notation Clipboard}.
Then, in v27, create a new document, and paste - from v27’s {music notation Clipboard}.

It seems we always have the same "bug" critics when this could be a simple misunderstanding of how Windows and Finale operate.

If loading the library fixed everything, why are you now trying to do the copy-and-paste solution, Billy?

I guess I'm confused. I'm having an issue where NP4 is playing everything staccato and it ignores the swing %. I think someone said copy and paste to fix that. But it doesn't. I've contacted Finale and NP support and even sent files. They are useless, nonresponsive.

Hi, that is the entire file. Just eight bars long. When it started to lax, I didn't write anything further. I have a feeling the problem could be with this PC. Even with 32 GB memory.
