v27 Please See Attached Photo (I can't describe this mess)

OK, so, slurs were not working in a NotePad file converted to musx. So I copied the musx file and pasted it into a new project. Look at this mess I see! Also, the slurring now works. But when I apply a slur in the second staff, the start of the slur jumps to the first note of the third staff. I've had nothing but problems after updating to v27. I guess I have to rewrite all the NotePad files into v27 musx.

The accent articulation is quite big.
I would edit it, and make it smaller.
It only needs to be done once.
Then, all occurrences of the accent articulation will be smaller.

The accent appears to be in a system default font, not in a music font. Double click on its handle and check the font setting in the articulation designer. Can you post a sample Finale file of the pictured example? We might have to play around with the sample to have any understanding of what's happening.

Can you export NotePad files into music xml? It might work to transfer info that way, vs cut and paste. I don't know the capabilities of NotePad.
Thank you. I edited in designer. Font size was 24. I had to choose down to 9 font. But now the accent in not centered under the notes. Center horizontally is selected.N Grossingink wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 11:00 amThe accent appears to be in a system default font, not in a music font. Excerpts attached. When I copy it and paste it into a new project in v27, I get those giant accents and the slur problem shown in the photo.

Thank you. I chose size 9 font. Much better but now not centered under the notes. I have center horizontally checked in the designer.Peter Thomsen wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 9:39 amThe accent articulation is quite big.

With Finale 27 they introduced a new font using a Standard Music Font Layout or SMuFL font. Looks like you've run into a bug having to do with that when you copy from your old file which used the Maestro font to the new one, called Finale Maestro. To get around that, when you create your new project, choose as a document style Legacy Defaults/Engraved Style (which will use Maestro), and paste your old file into that. You can either keep using the "legacy" style--nothing wrong with that--or you can then convert it to the new style by picking Document/Set Default Music Font, and then picking "Finale Maestro."
Thank you. But no luck. When I paste into a new document where I've chosen Engraved Style in wizard, the music is down an octave and there are all these giant accent sings and staccato dots almost as big as notes.motet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 4:17 amWith Finale 27 they introduced a new font using a Standard Music Font Layout or SMuFL font. EDIT: It worked. However, eighth notes are playing staccato, and the second trumpet plays different note lengths than trumpet 1.motet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 4:17 amWith Finale 27 they introduced a new font using a Standard Music Font Layout or SMuFL font. Can you open a Finale NotePad doc in Finale 27? Or export as xml and import into Finale? Bypass the wizard; just Document>Set Default Music Font to the music font you choose. That's what I would try anyway.

I opened your 2 measure file in Finale 27, it looks like this on my screen:
I converted the original default Maestro font from your file to "Finale Maestro"... the result looks exactly the same. I copied all six bars to a new document created in the Setup Wizard - again, the result looked exactly the same.
What am I missing? Is the file you uploaded not the original Notepad file?

Thanks for the second file... same results however. I opened it directly in Finale 27.3 - it looked like this:
Converting music font to "Finale Maestro" again produced identical results (no change). Copying also worked as before.
I'm on Mac... so does that narrow it down to a Windows specific issue? I apologize for not being much help.
(The first file indicated Notepad 2001, the second was Notepad 2008)

I had the same result as bakkumd on Windows, so not necessarily a Windows issue.
I appreciate your help. I guess I'll have to redo, from scratch, years (2001 - 2008) of NotePad files. I was so enthused about upgrading to v27 and NotePad. Huge letdown. Arranging stuff is about all there is in life for me. Therapeutic.bakkumd wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 11:40 amThanks for the second file... same results however.
