Greetings,

I have been a Finale user since the pre-PC version days! I love having the parts in the original file. However, I have not found a solution to the problem I have always had.

When I create 1st and 2nd (or more) endings in a piece the ending brackets (1., 2., etc.) do NOT appear in the parts. If I turn them on for the individual staves I get a score full of first and second endings and that is not what I want. I only want the endings to appear at certain places (i.e. above the ww's, above the brass, above the strings, etc.) But the only way I can find to get the endings to appear in the parts is to show them on all staves.

What am I missing? I've followed several tutorials online and none of them seem to work in my version. I'm currently on 27.3.0.137.

Thanks,

Ralph

1) In the Staff Attributes of the staves (where you want these brackets in the parts), make sure that, under Items to Display, Ending and Text Repeats is checked.
2) In the score, right-click on the left handle under the repeat bracket and select Edit Ending.

Make your choice : All Staves, Top Staff Only or Staff List in your scenario. Edit and "Add" a new Staff list.
In the Score column, mark the staves in which you want to show the Ending and Text Repeats in the Score.

I don't remember seeing that last dialog box...how do I get to it?

That looks it will do the trick for me.

Thanks,

Ralph

Cool! I have been using Finale for over...well since it was a Mac only product. (I didn't own it then but used it...I bought it as soon as it came out for PC!) and I have never noticed that edit box before!

Thanks!

Ralph

Ralph you are not alone. That is probably the number one reason people have issues with Finale or any software for that matter.
When I did the Finale classes for our school district that was probably the number one response. "I have never noticed that before!"
