I'm trying to get finale to skip the first ending on playback to save time and just go to the 2nd ending. I select "skip if ignoring repeats" under the 1st ending edit box but nothing happens.

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to, never hear the 1st ending in playback - right?

You could edit the 2nd ending to play on Pass 1 (but still display 2 in the ending bracket), and edit the 1st ending to play on Pass 3 (but still display 1 in the ending bracket).

In that way the 1st ending will never play (assuming that there will be no Pass 3).

Right! I don't need to hear the first ending in some sections during playback. I'm not sure how to do what you described.

Repeat Tool.

Handles appear on the ending numbers.

Context-click the number in the first ending (= 1.) - in the context menu, choose Edit Ending…

In the dialog box Edit Ending, set the Ending Number to 3 (= play on Pass 3), and set the Alternate Text in Ending to 1.

Similarly, context-click the number in the second ending (= 2.) - in the context menu, choose Edit Ending…

In the dialog box Edit Ending, set the Ending Number to 1 (= play on Pass 1), and set the Alternate Text in Ending to 2.
