Ah--using a beat source I'm sure makes all the difference. I don't have a pedal.

I never used the provided metronome or an assigned key as the beat source. Using the pedal, it is easy to even slow down or speed up the beat as convenient, and it will still be accurate if the notes are played fairly steadily between the beats.
