Triplet minim+2 quavers during a minim pace
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
Hi there, it may be something what has been already asked and answered here, but cannot find it, so I'm asking it again.
How can I enter the following triplet pattern, e.i. during the pace of two crotchets I'd like to enter a minim and two quavers? I tried everything I could but nothing worked...

I entered the half note and two eighths, then used the Tuplet Definition to make it 3 quarters in the space of 2 quarters. Is that what you want, or am I misunderstanding?

Bill, your method is fine, except that it won't work on the last beats. But thanks for translating the European into American!
I suggest the OP read my tutorial. https://www.dropbox.com/s/weehrytsb4x0w ... y.pdf?dl=0

Following up on Mike's comment: using Speedy, if you uncheck Jump to Next Measure and Check for Extra Notes, it works. I didn't read Mike's tutorial so possibly he has an easier solution.

Except in a few odd circumstances with Simple entry, you should never need to turn off Check for Extra Notes, Jump to Next Measure, or resort to the separate Tuplet Tool. In Speedy entry, you can press Ctrl+1, pick three quarters (crotchets) in the space of two quarters, hit OK, and then enter the notes. I'm sure Mike's document gives a similar "inline" solution for Simple entry. The separate Tuplet tool can be useful for entering nested tuplets, but otherwise it's an extra few steps and unnecessary.
Not to shame anyone! These questions come up so often that I think it indicates a flaw in the user interface.

Yes, my way works without any of that.
A question about the Speedy method, since I don’t use it: if you set it up with CTRL-1, can you then enter (for example) 2, eighth notes on the first beat?
