I would like to notate artificial harmonics in tablature using the convention:
1(13)
Meaning finger the first fret and play the harmonic at the 13th fret.
Can this be done?
I am using Finale 26.
Thanks,
Charley

Welcome to the forum!charleyrich99 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 11:19 pm… using the convention:

Where in the layout do you need the notation ‘1(13)’ ?
- in the standard staff?
- in the TAB staff?
- at the fingering notation?
- at the fret notation?
Could you perhaps attach a graphic showing the layout you need?
The reason why I am asking, is that I am in doubt, which Finale tool that would be better, easier.

I am looking to do this in the tablature staff for guitar.
I have seen this notation style for artificial harmonics in published guitar scores, but can't figure out how to do it in Finale. I guess I could draw it using graphics, but that is an awful approach and won't automatically reflect future changes in the score.
Finale's help shows notating both the fundamental and the harmonic in the music staff. However, I have never seen that in any guitar score, either classical guitar or others.
I have attached an image of the desired outcome.
Thanks,
Charley

Now I am confused.
In your first post you wrote:
1(13)
But in your attached graphic I see
(1,13)
?!?
Anyway, it can be done as an expression.
You can even make the expression opaque so that the TAB line can not be seen behind the characters.
* See the attached demo.

Thank you for the screenshot. I see how you did it.
My apologies for the change from 1(13) to (1,13) - just a typo on my part.
Is there a way to do this without hard coding a text expression? If I change the note in the standard notation staff, this expression will no longer be correct.
How did you get the expression to "link" to the tablature? When I replicated your expression, it only linked to the standard notation.
Did you drag it to the tab?
Thanks,
Charley

I do not know a way, sorry.charleyrich99 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 12:09 am… Is there a way to do this without hard coding a text expression? If I change the note in the standard notation staff, this expression will no longer be correct …
Since you used the word “replicated”, I suppose that you did not copy my expression into your Finale document, but rather tried to create the expression yourself - right?charleyrich99 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 12:09 am… How did you get the expression to "link" to the tablature? My first guess is that it is a matter of expression category.
For my expression I created a new, custom expression category, by duplicating the Dynamics category, and by editing the duplicate category.
If you just used a random, already existing category, then you might have used a {Score List} category, like e. g. the Tempo Mark category.
Instead, use one of the {non Score List} categories, like e. g. the Dynamics category.
