I just noticed after my recent Finale update that all my parts are printing with only a clef on the first system of every page - somehow this came in as a default, something did not occur (nor did I think about) through 27.3. I suppose this won't matter on any instrument that only needs a single clef - it definitely makes the page much cleaner. But this is also happening on grand staff and the occasional mixed string part with violins and violas on the same page. This is music for classical instruments.

I have just updated a bunch of scores on my website store, and this affects about 25 documents. What is considered best practice?

Look at Document options/clefs. It's a per-document selection, though, so if it's affecting older files that you open and save, something is amiss, and it may be time to reset your preferences.

I think it's something to avoid. It's there to emulate some older hand-written jazz charts, but it was mainly an expedient for the hand-copyist.

Thanks. I found that control but before I resaved all these documents (with interference from some kind of pdf bug) I thought I'd find out what the kids these days are doing.
