Using Finale 27 on a MAC. Can't figure out why when I set up measure number regions that appear correct in my score, all the settings for those regions go blank when I extract the parts and I have to set the measure number regions up all over again from scratch on each extracted part. What am I missing here? Thanks.

You are extracting parts rather than using linked parts?

Using F27 I opened a template and did an extraction, and the measure numbers are there on the extracted parts. Check Motet's suggestion, or compare your settings to a template.

I’ve done all that’s been suggested but still can’t get measure numbers to appear on my extracted part. I read that this is a long-standing problem with finale. Any hope of a version fix?
Meanwhile what else can I try?

Here’s the file.... the full score can’t be uploaded as I get a message that it’s too large at 2258 KB

That part has a measure number region, but since you normally don't want to show measures on the cello part in a score, the cello's staff has Show: Measure Numbers unchecked. The best way to deal with this is to set your measure number regions to show on Top Staff as shown below. You can make the Linked Parts setting the same as the score. That way it the number will show on the top staff of the part regardless of whether Show: Measure Numbers is checked in the staff attributes. Finale creates the measure number regions this way by default, so perhaps you unchecked Show on: Top Staff thinking it was for something else.
In my version, your font selection for the measure number region was set to Maestro, with no size specified, so they came out giant. That might just be a quirk of versions, but Maestro is for musical symbols, so I suggest some other nice sans-serif text font for your measure numbers.

The measure number font was set to "Finale Maestro" which doesn't have any symbols at all in the number slots because it uses the SMuFL encoding format.
So Finale only shows the default Arial font - at least on Windows, don't know about macOS.
Make sure to use a text font or a musical symbol font (like the old Maestro) where the number slots 48-57 are actually used.

This seems to be a perennial issue with FINALE where measure numbers are missing and searching through this forum has helped many people but unfortunately I'm not one of them . I have tried the solutions suggested here and I still have measure numbers missing from at least 3 linked parts.
I am attaching examples of linked parts issues. 2 photos
I was trying to upload the original file but it's to large. Any help would be appreciated.

In the measure region settings you've shown, check "show on top staff" (which should have been the default).
In the score, one generally doesn't want measure numbers on every staff, so "measure numbers" is unchecked in several of the staff attributes. "Show on top staff" overrides that.

That doesn't solve the problem, because as you can see from the photo the numbers are shown in one linked file and not shown in another and the settings are the same. I don't want to have to recreate this file again. In the linked files some show the numbers and others do not. I have even cleared the measure regions and created a clean one.

Ok. so it seems I have resolved the issue.motet wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:11 amIn the measure region settings you've shown, check "show on top staff" (which should have been the default).

1. I deleted the current Measure Number Region (did this before but it didn't work before)
2. Created a new one
and the issue seems to be resolved because all linked parts have part numbers now.
