I am trying out some of the suggestions received regarding extracting
and linked parts. Why is it that, when trying to extract, I get two different
kinds of windows, as seen in the attachment. One shows the instruments/parts,
the other doesn't.

It looks like the one on the right is before you generated parts and the one on the left is after.
