Is there a preference option setting any where to stop Finale from automatically adding an extra measure at the end every time one edits near the end of the last existing measure? Finale is trying to be courteous in helping to continue writing a next measure.

I keep leaving it there until i THINK i'm done and then delete the extra measure, but there's always an extra edit needed and the added measure occurs again.

thank you for any suggestions, this is not a huge deal.

You are using Finale v27 - right?

And you are entering music with the Simple Entry Tool - right?

Take a look in
Simple Entry Tool > Simple menu > Simple Entry Options…
Is the option
Create New Measures
selected or de-selected ?
