Recently every time I go to this page (the Finale forum page) I get a pop-up ad, usually for Legos, which I have to close. It's just one click but it's annoying. I am many decades past the Lego age and for me they are mostly a threat to bare feet.

Is anyone else seeing this?

I see it here too. It's annoying and irrelevant, but I suppose not actually debilitating.

I just saw an ad for a local car dealership. David Ward is seeing them in the UK. Seems fairly sophisticated and probably not likely to go away.

Most browser settings have pop-up controls. There are also browser add-ons. I use Ad Blocker for the Mozilla browser. Having said that, many forums rely on ads to underwrite their operating costs.

I use Wipr in Safari. I've never seen popups.

I was hoping this would help, but it doesn't look like it did.

I use "Ad Block Pro" - $10 per year - all Apple devices covered - Macs, iPads, iPhones...

Zero ads in any web browser. Also eliminates 99% of Youtube ads. Has white lists for banking/online shopping. Set it and forget it.

Ads pay for this forum, but I agree pop-ups are intrusive. I don't mind seeing the banner ads.

I'm curious - who actually owns this forum? Is the cost of web hosting and database management covered entirely by the ads?

I started seeing them a few days ago. Figured it was a necessary evil to keep the forum running.

TBH, I've yet to see one pop up. Maybe it's my ad blockers doing a good job.

Indeed. Talk of ad blockers in public here is maybe biting the hand that feeds you, so it's best left unspoken, I think.

I agree that pop-up windows of any kind are intrusive. Firefox, Chrome, and Edge all have a setting to block pop-ups. I would guess Safari does as well. (Google <name of browser> block pop-ups).

The talk must have scared them away. Not seeing them today.
