Finale 2002 Font issues

Hello all! I'm trying to help out my dad and we've run into some problems. My dad has been using Finale 2002 on his surface pro but it is at the end of its life. Even still, finale still works on it. We got him a new surface pro and I tried migrating everything over to the new one using a portable hard drive but all the files are showing up with this weird font as you can see in picture. From my understanding, a friend of his gave him a copy of the program so I'm not sure if this was ever obtained legitimately, so to speak. Does anybody have any insight as to what might be going on or how to fix it? I wonder if we could upgrade for the $99 but I fear the learning curve from 2002 to the current version would be immense. Any help anybody could provide would be very greatly appreciated.

The first thing I would try, is re-installing the Finale fonts.

Have you tried that?

You won't get an upgrade deal from a "copy that's not yours", so to speak.

I agree. Your "friend' will have to ask for the upgrade and he/she will have to have the original serial number. And that serial number must be assigned to that person could be through an email name, address, etc.
