Change existing material from 4/4 to 6/8?

I'm arranging for an artist who originally wanted a tune in 4/4. He has now decided he wants it in 6/8.

I already told him it can be played either way in this context, but he is insistent on the change.

There are normal quarter notes, and there are triplets that would add up to a quarter note in this scenario. Is there any quick way to convert this to 6/8 without having to hand-type everything? I tried the time signature tool, but I can't find a way to turn all the quarter notes into dotted quarter notes. Any help is appreciated.

Do you know Jari Williamson’s plug-in JW Meter and Rhythm ?

I would do in two steps :
1) convert the 4/4 into 12/8
2) change the 12/8 into 6/8.

For the first operation, the plug-in JW Meter and Rhythm would help.
