My Finale Friends:

I've written a guitar line that involves two beats of quintuplets (sixteenth notes in a group of five).

How would I get Finale to notate it that way?

Thanks in Advance,
Jim Westlyn

Greetings!

There are lots of ways to enter tuplets and no doubt other regular members of this Forum will chime in with their preferred method.

But I’ll be brave and tell you my method. I’m on Windows and use Speedy entry. Simply tap ‘control-5’ and type in the notes! It couldn’t be easier!

In Simple entry, enter the first note, tap ALT-9 on your numberpad, set the numbers as 5, 16ths in the space of 4, sixteenths. OK. When you return to the score, enter the additional notes.

If you have a lot of these, check Set as Default. Then, enter the first note and tap just the 9.
