Automatic beam breaking

Measure 1 is the way Finale renders the rhythm according to the time signature. Then I have to manually break the beams to get what is shown in measure 2. Is there a way to do this automatically?

Thanks!

Does the pattern repeat? If so, you can copy/paste Secondary Beam Breaks using the Edit Filter. But if the pattern doesn't repeat that's no help.

The pattern doesn't always repeat. When it does then your suggestion with the edit filter is the way to go but I'm looking for a way to force Finale to break beams according to the key signature. Perhaps a plugin?

You probably mean “according to the time signature”.

Unfortunately the time signature only breaks through all beams (primary beams, secondary beams, …).

I do not know of a plug-in that can, intelligently, break secondary beams.

A plug-in would be great. Meanwhile, try this: make the pattern in measure 1 below in some scratch measure--you can delete it later. Then set the copy filter as show. As you can see it will almost convert your rhythm in measure 2 to your desired result. The place is fails is where there are four 32nds in a row.

Roberto,

TG Tools - Beam Breaker v3 plugin will do almost everything you want in your original post. Use the default settings and applying it twice (two clicks of the "Go" button). The only item to fix is one 32nd beam in your 64th notes in count 9.

Open the plugin - click on the "Secondary" tab, click the checkbox, then click the "Go" button twice. Do not change any other settings.

I created your example in Finale 27 and after two clicks of the "Go" button, all but one 32nd beam was broken as shown in your example.

I have TG Tools v3 installed on Mac OS. The website is old and a little confusing - here is the download page for this plugin package: https://www.tgtools.com/downdocs.htm.

Thanks, bakkumd. I purchased and installed TG Tools v3 and got the results exactly as you described. Can't figure out what to do about those 64th notes but at least most of the work is now being done automaticamente.
Cheers!
