Save as (previous version finale) for example finale 2008

Is there a way to save a file in a previous finale file format ?
Not everybody jumps immediately on the newest version and it can be very handy when working on a project with different people and finale versions to have something like that.
Just a question. Maybe something to implement in the next update or am I missing something.

Finale doesn't have a Save As (previous version Finale).
Instead Finale uses the MusicXML format which is supported by more than 100 music applications.
From Finale 2009 you export as a MusicXML file:
File menu > MusicXML > Export...
In Finale 2008 you import the MusicXML file:
File menu > MusicXML > Import...

PS
Finale NotePad 2009, too, can import/export MusicXML files.

Finale 2004 was created long ago when the MusicXML format was in an earlier version, holding less information than the recent version.
When importing into Finale 2004, did you use Finale 2004's own MusicXML import, or did you use the latest version (4.5) of the Dolet plug-in?

Yes, the latest version transfers more layout info, since it uses version 2.0 of the MusicXML format.
I doubt that the version that came with Finale 2004 (in summer 2003) can read all the MusicXML 2.0 info.

I would just add this : If you purchase the Dolet 4.5 plug-in, you need to install a copy of its MusicXML folder for EACH version of Finale, thus you should put it into the 2004 folder and relaunch Finale.Peter Thomsen wrote:Yes, the latest version transfers more layout info, since it uses version 2.0 of the MusicXML format.

(On a Mac : Finale 2004->Plug-ins->MusicXML folder)
NB :The "full" plug-in can be found under the plugin-menu.
