I am trying to beam eighth notes (in a 4/4) for the harp from the bass clef to the treble clef. (so that there will be a stem pointing down connected to a stem going up to the treble.) I have tried everything. I am using Finale 2008. Thanks, this help will be much appreciated.

Got it, thanks a lot. Now my only problem is that I have to get rid of the rest in the bass clef. Any suggestions?

A way to manually hide an individual rest in Speedy entry : position the pointer over it and type * .

I just tried that, but it didn't seem to work. I am using a mac, I don't know if that makes a difference, but do you know how to do it manually?
Thanks

Mike, I'm sure Michel meant to say type the (letter) O key to hide the rest, not *. The asterisk is used to force an accidental on a note.

Thank you, Peter, it's late at night here, 1:35 a.m...I agree of course, I use these shortcuts every day. Time to go to bed.
PS : Letter H (like "hide") works too, I think.

In Simple Entry, select the rest, and hit the H key.

Bedtime for me too - I just typed "key sig" twice when I meant "time sig". Bon nuit Michel!
