I have Finale 2010 on a Mac. I can't figure out hot to use chord slash's for a few beats and then normal notation (for a note specific phrase ) on the last beat (all on same layer).
Thanks for any help

Enter all your notes normally. Select the ones to have the slash notation, and with the staff tool, apply Staff Style Slash Notation.

I would add to Miker's reply : to select a portion of a measure, click outside the staff and drag horizontally in the staff.
