Using Finale 2010b, I have always had a problem with cross-staff feathered beaming. After adjusting the angle of the secondary beams, the stems end up sticking out too far beyond the beams.

Peter mentioned a workaround to Linda a couple years ago here:
http://www.finaleforum.com/forums/viewt ... crossstaff

But his workaround was sent via email, which obviously does me no good. Peter, if you're reading, do you mind letting me in on the workaround?

Thanks,
Luke

No problem!

Here are two different solutions to the problem.

Since you are using Finale 2010, you should be able to open these two Finale .mus documents (they are in Finale 2006 format).

Peter, your two methods were very helpful. I actually came up with a third method. It may not work well in all contexts, although I think it will.

Thanks again!

Nice trick, Luke!

Now, which solution is the less time consuming/better?
My guess is that it depends on the actual context.
