Hello,

I composed some Variations for guitar.
It's been completed. Than I decided to add the main theme
after blank page with the title and before Variation I.

I know how to merge files, but than my main theme
(which is only on one page) shows up at the end of the piece.
That is after merging main file with all variations and that
with the main theme.

Is there any possibility to change the order of the pages or
any other way so I can put my Main Theme inside of the piece
precisely page no 2 ?

that would help me to arrange another document that I did with tabs
and need same type of compiling/arranging files/pages.

I will appreciate any help,
Arek

If your new measures are added at the end of the piece, select them, copy them. Select the measure that should follow the copied material and use Insert (Edit menu) to copy/insert it.
Very probably, there will be some work to do to rearrange your page layout.

Michel, thanks for Your advice and now, don't take it as an offense but like a joke, real joke.

If I would arrange the document and its pages the way You suggested,
we call it in Poland - sculpturing in a fecal matter : ))

so is there any other way to do it easier and cleaner ?? : )

I would appreciate any help

I work on Finale 08, xp btw

best regards

Two other ideas:

1) You could try the ScoreMerger (look in the File menu), to combine two Finale scores.
ScoreMerger usually does a fine job in preserving the layout of the original scores.

2) To do the job manually (like Michel suggested), use the Page Layout Tool to Insert Staff Systems (look in the Page Layout menu).
When new staff systems are inserted, the existing systems will retain their system margins.
To get the page turn in the right place you may have to add a Page Break (Page Layout menu) in the first system on Page 3 (= the first system in Variation I).
In that way the system will will always begin a new page.

Hi Peter, Hi Michel,

Hi Peter, thank You for Your help,

Merging Files is little problematic cos I thing there's no
possibility to assign pages of the new file to
a certain spot in the existing file.
That's why it shows up at the end and pretty much
works almost as a copy/paste function, - nothing special. unless..
I can assign pages easily to my desired pages' numbers.

But when I saw Your suggestion Peter regarding adding Page Break
wow - I'm like - it's gonna work, it's gonna be neat,
and I can do some work using copy/paste functions.
But what happens - it just doesn't work. I mean it adds new systems
over the Variation I, but don't do the break page.

This is what I do:
ON the 3d page being on the very first system I click
right button of the mouse and add Insert Page Brake,
and at this very moment I don't know why but Finale automatically takes
me to the very next page. Just to inform You..

Than being on the second page of my document
which is a Blank Page I do: Page Layout/Insert Staff Systems,
than see the attachment.
And I go to Page no 3 and it didn't make the page break...?

do You know why?...

thank You

Arek

I'm not sure I understand.

Anyway, I would do things in the reverse order:
first insert staff systems, second insert the page break.

The systems will be distributed incorrectly across the pages when you insert the staff systems, but the pages should become correct again when you insert the page break.
