In attached document (two measures distilled from a larger score) Finale 25 insists on starting the trill two eighths earlier than is written in the score. Why does Finale do that?
If I use the trill from the articulations tool, the playback is correct, but I do need to add a wavy line because the measure is quite wide (a lot going on underneath that half note). Adding that wavy line is a bit of a hassle with Finale constantly adjusting spacing and -after all- isn't the smart shape supposed to avoid that hassle?
Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated.

If you attach the wavy line correctly, then it should look good regardless of future spacing. Should be only slighty more of a hassle than using the trill smart line.Jay Emmes wrote:f I use the trill from the articulations tool, the playback is correct, but I do need to add a wavy line because the measure is quite wide (a lot going on underneath that half note). And if you have a lot of these (but I'm guessing not), you could even delete the trill symbol from the existing smart line and start it right on the beat, which would leave space for you to add the articulation.

Possibly this file works better.

What you did, Zuill, is start the smart shape one quarter late. Finale will then indeed start playback at the right moment, but where is the logic in any of that?

I know there's no logic in it, but at least there's a way to get the right result. It is an HP issue. HP is known for issues, since it's creation. After all, it is called Human Playback, and we know humans make mistakes.
