I cut and pasted some sections in a score, which disabled playback of all the dynamics. Toggling genres in HP, replacing the library file and Data Check (File Maintenance -> Remove deleted items) all failed to solve the problem. I think previously someone posted a workaround for this issue, but I cannot find it here in a Search. Can someone help me?

Assign the staff to a new instance and new channel in the Aria player.

If notes but not dynamics play back, attach a portion of your file exhibiting the problem.

gogreen, I'm not sure what you mean by "assign staff to a new instance." Sorry for being so concrete. I have only the piano part played back with ARIA, since I like the Steinway piano sound. ARIA player's playback volume is generally too weak for my liking, perhaps because of its dynamic range.

Attached is a section of my piece. I hear no distinction between the mf and ff in the cello part.

If I change mf to pp, I hear a difference. I don't know why mf and ff sound the same. Maybe it's just crappy. You can change the key velocity numbers in each of the dynamics, I gu4ess.

I was having some dynamic weirdness on an old file that had gone through several updates to Finale.
On a lark, I checked the SOLO button in the Mixer, on all of the inst, and it then played back fine.
Worth a try!

oldmkvi, I tried your suggestion, but it did not help. But thanks anyway. Cutting and pasting sections in a score evidently corrupts the file. The only solution seems to be my universal fix, which is to copy and paste the music into a new document. I checked my key velocity assignments, which are...

ffff 127
fff 114
ff 101
f 88
mf 75
mp 62
p 49
pp 36
ppp 23
pppp 10
subito p 49

Below are my preferences for the others (increments of 12):

fp None
fz 91
sf 103
sfz 115
sffz 127
