midi input

I have a midi keyboard and would like to input single notes from the keyboard....or chords ...mostly single notes...I'm hearing it but it doesn't apper on the screen....

any help would be appreciated..

What have you done, besides plugging in the keyboard? Have you gone through the help files and checked the Setup? Are you trying to use Simple, Speedy, or Hyperscribe? Have you worked through the tutorials?

I'm not trying to give you a hard time. The more we know about what you're doing, the better we can help.

what I have determined so far is that by using speedy, I can enter notes...but only in time with the click track...I was hoping that I could strike a C on the midi keyboard and it would display a C in finale...not in record mode....sort of like using the mouse only a lot quicker for me....

But in the reading I've done, I don't think it is possible in finale....

piece of cake in protools and I can print a score there...but there are things about finale I like better than protools...so I'll just keep importing and exporting...
