Hello, I'm using Finale 2012c, the windows version, on windows xp. I recently bought a midi to usb cable on newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 1NV0KV5315
Then I connected the cable to my casio keyboard and plugged it into my computer. The computer recognized the device, and installed the driver software. I can see in the device manager that the 'usb audio device' is functioning properly, and has the appropriate driver installed.
I then followed these instructions in order to try to begin recording a piano song into two staffs using the hyperscribe tool:
http://www.finalemusic.com/usermanuals/ ... cribe1.htm
Everything seems to be working, except for the actual communication between the notes and the computer. Finale recognized the device, and I have it checked in midi setup menu as the input device. As I said, I followed all the instructions in the above link, so I'm pretty sure all the preferences are correct. However, when open a song, and click on a measure with the hyperscribe tool, I cannot get any notes to appear. If I set the start signal for recording to 'any midi input', then I can't get the metronome to start playing, because the computer does not seem to register me playing the notes. If I set the start signal to record immediately, I can hear the metronome count off through my speakers, but after waiting for the two measure count in, I play the keyboard and nothing appears.
I've also gone through all the possible issues on the midi troubleshooting page here:
http://makemusic.custhelp.com/app/answe ... /a_id/4078,
but none of them seem to be the problem.
Does anyone know what's wrong? Literally everything seems to be working except for the actual part where I play a note and finale registers it.
Can't get hyperscribe to record notes from midikeyboard?

Problem solved: had the input and output cables switched.
