Hello to everybody in this Forum that I've found very useful.
I'm pretty new in Finale and I've got a question on opening MIDI files.
What I would like to do is importing a Midi file and double the duration of chords. For instance if in the midi file I want to import I have 2 bars with 2 notes of 2/4 of duration in each bar, I would like my notation to have 4 bars with each bar 1 note of 4/4 of duration.

Shall I do it while importing or can I do it after having opened a midi file normally?

Thank you in advance,

Valerio

Dear Valerio,

I wouldn't know where to begin to modify a midi file. However, what you want to do is not difficult in Finale.

Use the time signature tool on the first measure of the piece. Change the 2/4 time to 4/4. Click "options" (if the options are not already showing), and make sure you tick "rebar" and "Measure 1 Through End of Piece".

Hope that solves your problem.

...and to double the note values, use the Mass Edit Tool:

Mass Edit menu > Change > Note Durations

200 % should double the values.
