Crescendo/Decrescendo Scale Key Velocity problem

I'm trying to put decrescendo in the playback of my song. I select the MIDI tool and select the measures (4) that I want to decrescendo. Then I go up to the MIDI menu, make sure key velocity is checked, and I go into the scale option. I change the scale from 127 to 30 (Absolute). However, when I start the playback it doesn't decrescendo and everytime I go back to check on the scale, it always resets to 64. I also have the Human Playback Style as none because a pop-up warning told me to do that. What can I do to hear my decrescendo?
