Plugin window frozen during playback

Finale v25, Mac Sierra: I've recently switched from Windows to Mac and am getting the hang of the differences between the two. I just discovered I am no longer able to make changes within my VST during playback - I use Miroslav Philharmonik 2, and in Windows I was able to turn the knobs, change the sample, etc. during playback. I'm finding I can't do the same in Mac, instead the window is frozen. Is there anything I can do to enable this or is it just something I have to work around?
